Deanne Gilson

Deanne’s art practice looks at the objectification of Aboriginal women by the male colonial gaze and how this has affected Aboriginal women and what was known as traditional women’s business.  Deanne’s work aims to heal, disrupt and challenge the male colonial gaze.

2017 saw Deanne host solo exhibitions, In between the Object and the Gaze, at the Post Office Gallery, Ballarat, and Murnong, at Koorie Heritage Trust, Melbourne, as well as contributing to White Night Ballarat.

Deanne Gilson will be exhibiting at The George Farmer Building.
