Anna Louise Richardson - Western Australia

Anna Louise Richardson is a visual artist investigating rural Australian identity and associated mythologies. The sixth generation living on a 3000 acre beef cattle farm south of Perth, personal narratives provide a storied framework in which she explores animal archetypes as tropes of communal and individual identity. Working primarily in drawing and installation her artistic practice emphasises how relationships to place and nature can be shaped through different histories, storytelling and imagination. Her work touches on the complex emotions and responsibilities of farming identity in rural Australia, specifically within a broader narrative of nostalgia and generational disconnection.
