Michal Glikson - Queensland

'I maintain a practice of diary-keeping. A scroll of paper comes with me wherever I go. In it I draw the things I see that strike a chord; people I befriend, oddities I witness, things I wish to remember. I develop drawings using techniques of Persian miniature painting. Traditionally used to document the life of Kings, I subvert it to convey the significance of nomadic life in an epoch characterized by borders, walls, and settler mentalities. I paint about epiphanies, anti-climaxes, perplexities, and contradictions, with the idea that my diaries will ultimately form a comprehensive archive of time, place, culture, particularity, and universality.' - Michal Glikson
